World Series of Poker 2010

The 2010 World Series of Poker schedule has been released with a few changes to note. First, the former commissioner of the WSOP, Jeffrey Pollack, has left the WSOP. His brainchild, the $50K HORSE tournament has also been removed from the line up and replaced with a $50K Player’s Championship. In addition to this new tournament, the 2010 schedule will also include a $25K 6-Handed No-Limit event and a $10K HORSE World Championship event, rounding out the 57-event schedule.

A total of 60,875 players participated in the series’ 57 events this summer. That’s an increase of more than 2,000 registrations from a year ago, and as officials plan for the 2010 World Series of Poker and beyond, they are still looking to expand. The World Series of Poker is all about the number of players in attendance, and the fact that eight $1,000 events are on the schedule should attract many players who previously would be hesitant to sit down at the WSOP felt.

2010 WSOP Rules Released

2010 WSOP Poker Rules have been released, with 6 new rules added. Unlike in 2009, the “Cell Phone Rule” now explicitly states that “players not involved in a hand (cards in muck) shall be permitted to text/email at the table, but shall not be permitted to text/email any other player at the table.” Any hint of emailing or texting another player at the same table will result in the disqualification of both players. Also, any player wanting to talk on his or her cell phone now needs to be at least one table length away from the table to do so.
