Question by Paralegal1982: My husband came home not wearing his wedding ring again…he just went to play “poker” .?
and came home not wearing it. He gave a half ass apology and then went straight to his xbox to avoid me He has done this shit before and I always felt silly for checking his ring out every night to make sure he had it on (on the sly). He said he didn’t know why he took it off. But that he does want to be married to me. I’m just done with the stupid avoidable shit that he does to hurt me. I just feel like he doesn’t want me anymore. Shouldnt I be really angry? he makes it seem like I have no reason to be upset. He even went as far as saying “what, would you rather me wear a ring to a bar and make out with someone”….wtf did that mean? He said he has never cheated on me. But how can I even trust him if he does this shit? What should I do…he has been pulling this shit for 3 years almost.
other than the wedding ring, there has been “hard” evidence that he has done more. Or at least tried. I’m not insecure, he just can’t be trusted! Screw off. I was asking for advice, not criticizm.

Okay, so I will be hosting a poker real money and we’ve decided not to play for money, and not to do anything like strip poker.
Are there any interesting things we can use as chips to bet with? Something that would be fun?
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! I’ve decided to go with tiny individually wrapped sweets such as Starbursts or chocolate kisses. That way no germs, but there’s still some incentive to win!

You ante up, it’s usually 1 or 2 bucks deal 5 cards to everybody and look at your cards, decide if you have or could make a hand then the dealer says 1-2-3 DROP! if you want to stay in you keep your hand in your hand and if you out you drop them. If you stay in it costs you 50 cents more, then dealer asks how many cards you want to exchange and try for better cards. Then everyone thats still in reveals what they have and best poker hand wins pot.

sounds like you got it right, only you match the pot (or certain amount of money per card you take,) if you keep your cards.

I was playing a poker “cash” game-Player A bet to the river and Playert B called. Player B asked to see Player A cards and Player A threw a ten of spades on the table holding on to his other card in disgust because he thought he was beat.
Player B showed (both his cards) two pair and starting collecting the pot when Player A decided to throw his other card on the table and another player noticed he had a straight. Who wins the pot? Also, there was no dealer-dealer button deals their own cards.

The straight wins. As long as player A threw his 2nd card on the table and didn’t throw his cards into the discard pile (muck) they are still live.

The other night my fiance’ and i went to hang out at a local strip club with some buddies…it was really dead so some of the girls joined our table. They taught us what they call “liars poker” the game is: you take one bill of money and bet it then you use the numbers to win the others money. Basically you say I have 3 2′s then the person might say well i have 4 9′s which is unlikely. If that person calls bull shyt and they are right they get the other’s money however, if they are wrong you get it. It was fun but is it a real game? Or, did some strippers get bored and make it up? (I lost a lot)

Sorry to hear you lost! My really good friend showed this to me a few years ago, and he showed me exactly how you described it.

He was pretty good at it, but told me that the trick is to set aside the bills that you know you can win with.

I guess the idea is to set up an expectation with the other person. So, if you have a couple of “good” bills, say 4 8s, and 4 9s, you use those first, show that you’re not bluffing, and then bring out the “bad” bill, and call BS on the other person at some point.

To me, it’s more like a fun drunken game. I can only stand about 2-3 dollars worth of it, and then I’m over it, but it’s certainly real as far as I know, and he said he’s been playing it since he was a teenager, so that’s at least 20 years. heh.
