Question by Skinner: Can you win at poker real money “long term” if you have an edge at the table against your opponents.?
I’m looking for mathematical proof that the poker rake can be beaten if you have an edge. Basically just trying to prove some dude wrong. Is there maybe a formula or something?

Yes, you can if you’re a good enough poker player. However, be careful. Most players think they are wonderful poker players when in fact they aren’t. There isn’t a formula. That would be like asking “what’s the mathematical formula to succeed in the NBA?”. There isn’t one. Either you’re a good enough player to compete or you aren’t.

If you want to succeed in poker, you need to understand pot odds and you need to be able to read your opponents while at the same time making yourself as unreadable as possible.

When you play poker, you have to keep a straight face, so as not to give away what’s in your hand. So the term “poker face” refers to hiding your emotions.
